Kick-Ups

sorry, animation not available at the moment

A kick-up is when you are laying on the ground and send your legs up so your knees are above your face, then you put your hands on the ground behind you and violently send your legs down again, pushing with your hands as you do so. The result is a dramatic leap to your feet, so that you are standing vertically and ready to dance. A kick-up is not very hard to learn(usually it takes one/two months), but you will land very often 'hard' on your back when practicing and thats why I advise you to practice this on a matt or grass. Kick-ups are taken from martial arts(I'm sure you've seen it hundred times in Bruce-Lee films). Kick-ups can be also done without hands but it is more difficult.
